Formation of ROAA Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (ROAACCU)
ROAA Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (ROAACCU) was established in November 2011 through the initiative of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Rubber Outgrowers and Agents Association (ROAA) under the Management of an Interim Management Board instituted by the NEC, with Mr. Kwame Awuah Asante as Chairman. Mr. Rexford N. Norvieku-Tekpetey was the first hired staff to see to the realisation of the Association’s dream. It was formed to primarily take care of the extra credit facilities requested by the Association’s members (farmers) and later, its common bond was opened to embrace the community.

Affiliation
In April 2013, ROAACCU was affiliated to the Ghana Co-operatives Credit Unions Association (CUA) Limited an apex body of all Credit Unions in Ghana and got registered with the Department of Co-operatives (DOC) in November, 2013. ROAACCU then became a full-fledged member of the Credit Unions movement in Ghana.

Awards
In the year 2016, during CUA’s 19th Biennial Conference, ROAACCU was adjudged the 1st position in the Awards category of ‘Submission of Regular Returns and Timely Monthly Financial & Statistical Reports for 2014/2015 Financial Year. ROAACCU picked its second National award during the 20th Biennial Conference in 2018 as the ‘Best Performed Credit Union in the Usage of CUSoft for the year 2016/2017. In the year 2022, ROAACCU was awarded the 3rd position in 'Best Credit Union in Corporate Social Responsibility for the year 2020/2021' by CUA at its 22nd Biennial Conference. Later in the same year, ROAACCU swept two enviable awards from the 1st Non-Banks Financial Institutions Awards organized by Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN). These awards were 'Best Financing MFI in Agriculture Financing' and 'Best Microfinance Methodology'.
ROAACCU was adjudged the best Higher Outreach in Rural Areas by GHANFIN in August 2024.
ROAACCU is currently among the large Credit Unions in Ghana with more than GHS40m total assets.
ROAACCU has its head office at Agona Ahanta with four networked branches in Agona Ahanta, Manso Amenfi, Wassa Simpa (all in the Western Region) and Assin Foso (in the Central Region). ROAACCU was the first Co-operative Credit Union in Ghana involved in the National Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme in the Wassa Amenfi Central District, Western Region.

Is ROAACCU recognized by Bank of Ghana (BOG)?
Yes. ROAACCU is affiliated to Ghana Co-operatives Credit Unions Association (CUA) and registered by Department of Co-operatives (DOC). ROAACCU is supervised and audited by both DOC and CUA who are empowered by BOG.

Can I save with ROAACCU without acquiring the minimum shares?
Yes. However, you have up to six months to acquire the minimum shares.

Is acquisition of shares compulsory?
Yes. It makes you a full member of ROAACCU who will enjoy all the benefits entitled to a member as prescribed in the policies.

Can I access my account balances on my phone?
Yes. You can use our USSD code (*889*55#) with default pin 1234 to access your account balances at a monthly fee of GHS2.00

Does ROAACCU provide SMS alerts on transactions?
Yes. Members receive SMS alerts on all their transactions at NO cost.

Do you operate cheque system?
Yes. You can own your personal cheque book and even that of your business. This cheque can be drawn over the counter of ROAACCU or GT Bank or issued to a 3rd party.

How long must I save with ROAACCU before I can access loan?
It depends on the type of loan product one wants to access. However, the savings period ranges from ONE month to SIX months.
